Crowned Miss Missouri in 2016, Erin O’Flaherty competed in the 2017 Miss America pageant where she was the first openly gay contestant in the pageant’s history. After losing her best friend to suicide and experiencing her first funeral at the age of 13, Erin is a strong advocate for suicide prevention and works with The Trevor Project, a hotline for LGBT youth, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
